Delete your account
You delete your household’s account yourself, on the platform. Below is how that works, what is removed and when. You do not need to sign in to read this page.
What you delete
Nordic Settlers is the platform at app.nordicsettlers.com and the app for iPhone and Android, from Crypted AS. An account belongs to a household, with room for two adults who each have their own login. On the platform, deleting is called Close the household.
How to close your household
- Go to app.nordicsettlers.com in your browser and sign in with the code we email you.
- Open Settings and choose Data and account. On a narrow screen Settings is in the menu.
- If you want a copy first, choose Download my data. You get one file with the names, the people, the document dates, the ticked tasks, your purchases and your agreements. Checklist ticks and what you fill in on a letter stay on your own device and are not in it.
- Under Close the household, tick Yes, close this household and choose Close the household. You may add why you are stopping. You do not have to.
In the app you reach the same place through More, Settings, Your data and Close the household. That opens the page in your browser, where you sign in with a code by email. The app itself does not close the household.
Only the household’s first account, the one it was created with, can close it. It then closes for everybody in it.
As the second adult
If you are the second adult, you cannot close the household, but you can leave it: Settings, Second adult, I want to leave, on the platform or in the app. You are signed out at once, your passkeys are deleted and your email address no longer opens this household. If you sign in with it on the platform anyway, you start a new, empty household of your own. After thirty days we replace your email address in the old household with a code.
Your name and your other details as a person stay in the household until it is deleted. The first account can remove them sooner, under Settings, People. You can also ask us.
What happens, and when
At once
- Everybody in the household is signed out, on the platform and in the app.
- Each adult gets an email saying the account is closed, with the date until which you can still come back.
- The platform sends no more reminders.
- The app removes the household’s data from a phone, including reminders it had scheduled there, the next time it is opened with a connection. Until then the phone keeps what is on it.
Within thirty days
Changed your mind? Simply sign in again within thirty days with the same email address, with a code or a link by email. The household comes back as it was, including what you bought. Signing in with a passkey does not do this.
After thirty days
Within a few hours after those thirty days we delete the household for good. Then these are gone:
- both adults’ logins and email addresses, with their passkeys and sessions;
- everyone in the household, with names, month and year of birth and nationality;
- the expiry dates of documents;
- your timeline and everything ticked off in it;
- your reminders and your settings for them;
- your reports made with Report as out of date;
- invitations that were still open, and the reason you gave.
After that we cannot bring anything back. If you sign in on the platform later with the same address, you start with a new, empty household.
What stays
- The sale, without names. For the bookkeeping we keep what was sold: the product, the date and the amount with the VAT (MVA), and the payment’s reference numbers at Stripe. Who bought it, we take off. Norwegian accounting rules require this.
- Your consent at purchase, without a name. Which version of the text you accepted and when. Who it was, your IP address and your browser, we take off.
- Stripe’s payment messages, emptied. That there was a message, of which kind and when; we erase the content.
- A log without your household. What happened and when, without saying which household it was.
- Sent emails. We erase the content as soon as an email has been sent. The address and the subject stay until thirty days after sending.
- Server log files. The codes of your household and your account can remain in them until they are overwritten, usually after a few weeks. Never your name or your email address.
- Backups. Every night we make an encrypted copy. We keep those of the last 30 days and one a month for the last 12 months. Your data can therefore remain in a backup for up to about thirteen months after closing. After that it is gone from there too.
- At Stripe, if you paid. Stripe keeps its own receipt of the payment, with your name and email address, under its own rules.
The mailing list for the free checklist is not tied to your account; closing it changes nothing there. How to leave the list is in the privacy statement.
Not working?
If Settings keeps sending you back to the welcome screens, finish those first. You may leave most answers empty. If you cannot sign in at all, or would rather we did it: email [email protected] from your account’s address and say that your household should go. We answer within a month.
What we keep while your account exists is in the privacy statement.
